1 Presentation

Twice per year, the ETC aggregates all available data - including flux, meteorological, and ancillary data - collected within the ICOS network.

As part of this process, BIFTAB files are generated. These intermediate files are used to create the final BIF ancillary product: ICOSETC_CC-Xxx_ANCILLARY_L2.csv

End users can download and unzip the Level 2 (L2) data archive to access:

  • All .csv data products.

  • A BIF.csv file summarizing the data.

  • A .pdf documentation describing the contents and structure of each product.

The files can be accessed here or via the link on this homepage.

This website presents the summary statistics of soil properties and carbon and nitrogen contents and stocks for the sampled ICOS sites. These data are also called level II data in the ICOS protocol.

2 Data Use and Acknowledgment

The final results represent a collaborative effort between the local station team and the ETC. Prior to using or publishing this data, please contact the researchers involved. For inquiries, refer to the Principal Investigator’s (PI) email or reach out via the ETC-Soil contact address: .

3 Method to compute stock and statistics

This website for level II data includes first a section explaining the methodology for computing the stock and the statistics. We explain here how we compute the stocks using the data collected from the ICOS Sites. We also explain the design-based approach which corresponds to the statistical estimators used to compute mean and total, and their associated uncertainties.

4 Report on Soil Database for the ICOS sites

Here is the list of site reports providing the soil properties statistics and ICOS level-II data ready for downloading. Maps are also provided when the spatial information are available.

5 ICOS Soil Database Dashboard

The following heatmap presents the number of Carbon measurements in the database per ICOS Station and per soil layers (negative values correspond to organic layers).
